The Project
The city council of Arganda del Rey launched the project “CREATING EQUALITY, a Gender-Based Enterprising – Routes for self-employment and social economy for women in Arganda del Rey”, managed by the Women Institute with the support of the Financial Mechanism of the European Economic Area (EEA).
The city council receives, together with other 5 spanish city councils, funding that Island, Liechtenstein and Norway, being partners of the EU market, offer as contributor country. The aim of this tool is to reduce the economic and social disparities and to reinforce the bilateral relationships with 16 countries in the EU: Bulgaria, Croacia, Chipre, República Checa, Estonia, Grecia, Hungría, Letonia, Lituania, Malta, Polonia, Portugal, Rumanía, Eslovaquia, Eslovenia and España.
The project is intended to contribute to improve the quality of life of women based on a concept of transformation, change and empowerment regarding employment and enterprising, strengthening the social economy.
The innovative Project provides support to women during the process of learning and experimentation to increase their professional skills and competences. The raw material is the personal and professional experience of each woman to apply it to team creativity and innovation towards collective enterprising. The outcomes entails an improvement in the economic autonomy of women, facilitatingtheir employability and their integration in the labour market, despite the large barriers at this moment.
